Four DARK authors have projects coming up so here is the low down.

J.P. Moore is happy to announce that his novel TOOTHLESS will be hitting print this Halloween. The novel description is:

France, 1180AD: An ancient evil is on the march. An army of demons and undead rampages across the countryside, spreading death and destruction. Judgment has come. The world of the living teeters on the edge of ruin.

One knight, a failed Templar, returns to the battlefield to avenge his wife and daughter. The dice are cast against him, and he is slain only to rise in service to the very evil that he hoped to destroy. He is a gifted minion. But life is not done with him yet.

Fellow DARK author Matt R. Jones has opened a blog for his new novel Mary Jane - A Tale Of Horror, Adventure, and Love. He describes it as:

a small-town horror/coming-of-age/romance piece loaded with humor and minimal melodrama.

He's already got some parts posted so head on over to the Mary Jane official blog.

And Blake M. Petit is releasing his novel Other People's Heroes as a serial podnovel. He previously published the book and now decided to bring it alive in the weekly podcast. The novel description is:

Imagine that you’ve lived your entire life in a world full of superheroes. Imagine that you’ve spent years worshipping the caped champions that protect your city, reviling the villains out to rule the world, and wishing that you could take your place among the guardians of justice. That’s what’s about to happen to reporter Josh Corwood. But when Josh’s dream comes true, he learns that these heroes he loves so much may be more “man” than “super,” and they may need a kid from the outside to remind them what being a hero is really about.

And lastly Bryan Wolford has been writing a serialized horror/crime novel called 48 PIECES over at his blog Life Of Bryan. It's supposed to be an off the cuff novel so go experience it as it unfolds.

NEW BIGFOOT PRINT ANTHOLOGY CALLS FOR SUBMISSIONS!

Bigfoot. Sasquatch. Skunkape. Whatever you call him, this cryptozoological American legend has entertained and befuddled us for generations. From grainy Zapruder-like film to family fare such as “Harry and the Hendersons”, the Bigfoot is an ingrained part of our culture. And, now, we’re gonna tell the other side of his story…the further adventures of Bigfoot!
Conceived in a fever pitch this past Horrorhound Weekend, Louis Fowler, editor of DAMAGED 2.0 and Casey Criswell, editor of “Cinema Fromage”, are teaming up with Rod Lott at BOOKGASM for an as-yet-to-be-titled Bigfoot Anthology, to be published under the new “BOOKGASM PRESENTS” banner. And, as with any anthology worth it’s salt, we need quality writers wanting to tell their own version of the Sasquatch myth!

Think that you’ve got an unique story to tell? We want it! Anyone can do a typical Bigfoot-scares-teen-campers tale…we want something different. Stories can put the creature in anytime or anyplace or any situation, as long as it is entertaining! Think your story is too “B-movie”? Chances are we’ll like it even better. Think your “take” is too insane? We want to read it!
Short story submissions need to be at least 1500 words, but feel free to go longer to tell the story that you need to. Additionally, flash fiction of at least 250 words will also be considered, but, please tell a story.
NO POETRY.
All submissions should be sent as a .doc file, in 12 point Times New Roman font. No crazy fonts, please. Number all pages and please include name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address in the top left corner of the first page.
For work accepted, authors will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology in which their work appears.

We will be accepting submissions from now until June 15th. Authors will be notified of acceptance shortly thereafter by email.

I'm wrapping up the last touches of formatting,and just all round triple checking of spelling, and what not for the "final" manuscript of the book. I NEED your bios! I sent a few of yall emails and will probably see if Bryan can snag a few as well. So, there is movement on the book, but I've just been super-busy since the holidays, but I am trying to make up for it now.

Dark is approaching!

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the status of Dark: A Horror Anthology... we are still formatting the interior of the book. We have settled on a size. We still have a few submissions being reviewed. And that's about it. Once we are finished putting the interiors together we will see about getting an introduction for the book, and then off to the presses. So stay tuned. Also, if anyone is interested in helping us promote the book when the time comes please get in touch with us.

Behind the Scenes of Dark: A Horror Anthology

I know, I know, I said I would post this like a month ago, but...I'm lazy. Here's a few pictures of what went into making the cover. This is the base art for what became the cover, or the "coming soon" preview of the cover. Basically I transferred my original drawing on to a very nice piece of watercolor paper, where I then colored it in stages. As you can see I tape my artboard to a sturdy piece of cardboard to limit the amount of warping. Some of these came out blurry, and yellow, and I'm too lazy to touch them up. I finished the cover digitally, darkening the trees, adding glowing eyes, and making the fire glow better, and made the smoke look more like smoke, but I didn't take any screen shots of that so you'll have to imagine those parts.
